I'll start with the property so you
can get an idea of where the horses are now. Some photos are older and
I'll comment on those. I can't get up to the upper meadows right now
because the mud and overgrowth are too bad for me to try to run the ATV up the
main road, but the llamas and horses don't have a problem. There are
several meadows that vary from an acre to several acres mixed in between
forested areas on the hilltop. But, I have posted pictures of the lower
meadows and areas to give you a better idea. I made thumbnails out of the
photos to save room on the page, but click on them to see a full picture.
As
you can see in some of the "horse section" photos there are horses on the
hillside. These are some of the fertility study mares that enjoy grazing
on the grasses that are starting to come up near the upper pond. Next time
we haul hay out I'll try to get their photos as they come in to eat.

Taken in 2007 when we first moved to the property. Many of the
buildings on the left have been taken down and/or rebuilt. This is
looking down from the upper pond area. |

Right side of the lower pasture closest to the house/barn. Pond in
right corner. House on right is neighbors |

Taken a month ago. This road divides the upper pastures from the lower
one. Pond is straight ahead. |

This is a back pasture that is not visible from the main road. The
horses and llamas come back here often for the privacy. House on right
is neighbors
.
View of trails the horses made going up to the upper meadows. Lots
of trees for wild horses to have shelter! |

Back pasture. Road on far back left goes to the upper pictures of the
pasture that can't be seen from the road. Creek runs along the back
and divides the fields |

Now the horses - these are in no particular order. |

Charlie & Eddie - 2 long term boys that were almost starved to death.
Charlie (right) has a deformed shoulder causing him to look funny. But
he has no problem running & playing. I have a video if requested. |

RC (a wind sucker) and Rambo (came in with a broken coffin bone) |

Windy - a QH mare that is up for sale. |

The group. All mustangs from the fertility study group in the
background on the hill. |

Srigo - our oldest (we think) resident at 32. Grandpa to Carson |

Emma - Srigo's gal. Is retired. Has some arthritis in her hips
due to being used hard in 4H. Mid 20's. Carson's grandma |

Granny - a fertility study mare that is old. We think she's pretty
close to 30 and has a personality to die for. Won't let you touch her
but will follow you anywhere for treats! |

A fertility study mare that just gets along with the older mares so we let
her come in.
SIDE NOTE: We brought the 3 oldest fertility study mares, from what
we can tell, in to the smaller area where they have a barn for shelter and
can be fed extra without fighting for food. |

Ginny - this is another one of the oldest mares and our worst one.
We monitor her daily. She gets special grains (Equine Senior)
vitamins, etc., and is separated during feeding time so no one takes her
food. We will continue to monitor her and should she start failing, we
will have her euthanized. But, right now she is doing well.
(OUT OF 50+ horses to have 1 thin isn't a sign of neglect or starvation.
It's a sign of age) |

Lacy - the yearlings are also in preparing to be shipped. |

Nevada Joe -- working with him to gentle him so he can be shipped. |

Old Gray Mare - This OLD fertility study mare gave birth to a filly this
past April. |
